The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Sutton County are conducting a virtual public meeting to identify an alternative safety relief route to US 277 for the City of Sonora and sections of Sutton County, Texas.

Virtual Meeting: April 30 - May 15

The virtual meeting presentation will be available from April 30, 2020 at 12 p.m. until May 15, 2020 at 5 p.m. All comments must be received on or before Friday, May 15, 2020.

The virtual public meeting (no in-person meeting) will include a pre-recorded presentation that includes both audio and visual components. Visit the Video Presentation page to view the virtual meeting. This website also includes a fact sheet, map, and comment forms.

Study Description

TxDOT is conducting a safety route study around the City of Sonora for the construction of an alternate route to existing US 277. The goal of the US 277 Sonora Safety Route Study is to divert the traffic around downtown to ease traffic congestion, enhance mobility and create safer driving conditions. Maps with the advancing and recommended alternatives will be available for review in the virtual meeting presentation.
